The room/broadcastToRoom API allows you to send either a chat_msg or a notification_msg. For Q&A, we'll use the chat_msg payload. You can target specific users (like your host) or all admins.

  • room_id: The ID of your Plug-N-Meet broadcast studio room.
  • only_to_admins: Set to true to ensure only your host(s) and co-hosts see the questions.
  • chat_msg.message: The actual question text.
  • chat_msg.to_user_id (Optional): If you want to send the question to a specific host, you can use their user_id.

Step-by-Step Implementation Idea​

Step 1: Set up Your Plug-N-Meet Webinar Room Create your Plug-N-Meet room via the Create Room API, ensuring RTMP is enabled. This will be your private "broadcast studio" where your presenters and production team will gather.

Step 2: Configure RTMP Broadcast To broadcast your webinar to a public audience, the moderator can initiate the live stream from within the Plug-N-Meet room.

  1. Open the More Options menu (...) in the footer control bar and select Start Live Stream.
  2. Enter the Stream Key and Stream URL provided by your streaming platform (e.g., YouTube, Facebook).
  3. Click Start Streaming to begin broadcasting the session.

Step 3: Develop Your Custom Q&A Frontend (Audience-Facing) Create a simple web form on your website where your audience can type and submit their questions. This form will send the questions to your custom backend server.

Step 4: Implement Your Q&A Backend (Moderation & API Call) This is the core of your custom system:

  1. Receive Questions: Your backend receives questions from the audience-facing form.
  2. Moderation Dashboard: Build a simple dashboard for your Q&A moderator. Here, they can see incoming questions, approve/reject them, and perhaps reorder them.
  3. Call room/broadcastToRoom: When the moderator approves a question, your backend makes an API call to Plug-N-Meet's room/broadcastToRoom endpoint.
